Champion Platform Feeder

Posted by Filed Under Cardinal Bird Feeder with No Comments

Our ultimate, all-metal Champion Platform Feeder is squirrel proof and chew proof—impervious to squirrel damage!

Spread a layer of black oil sunflower seed in the bottom tray, and then secure the grids over the top. The two grid system creates a permanent barrier between squirrels and your seed.

Squirrels can’t maneuver their paws through the grids to pull out even a single seed.

The Champion Platform Feeder’s broad feeding surface entices birds of all sizes. Even finicky cardinals love this feeder! Hang or pole mount on a 1 inch pole. No special pole adapter is required.

The bottom tray of the Champion Platform Feeder’ is screened to provide drainage and to keep seed aerated and dry. Holds 1 lb. of black oil sunflower seed.

Black oil sunflower seed works best because it stays under both grids where squirrels cant reach.

Problem with tube type wild bird feeder?

Posted by Filed Under Cardinal Bird Feeder with 3 Comments

How can I get the feed to keep going down into the cups? The birds peck it out, but it never goes back into the feeder cup. I have to go out and use a wire hook i made up to get it back in the cups so the birds can reach it again. It is a 4 port, about 18 inches tall, the cups are closer to the bottom, so yo’d think the weight would push the seed down into the cups. Very frustrating. It is a plastic tube maybe 1.5 inches wide, and I use black oil sunflower seed (not the shelled kind)
sminthian1980: It is the "convertible" type, you can rotate the cup and it changes into the "slit", but no I have it set for regular seed.
Everyone else, thanks but I have heard birds "like" the black oil sunflower seed best and they do like it from what I’ve seen. I might need a different style feeder. In the winter I can just toss it on the snow and they ground feed alot. For finches, who like thistle, I use one of those sack feeders for those guys, they love that thistle sack!

There are wasps in my birdhouse that need removal!?

Posted by Filed Under Cardinal Bird House with 3 Comments

In the winter we went to a garage sale where i bought a small, plain little cardinal birdhouse for a quarter. I painted it with small roses and the door hole with a green rim, sealed the outside, and when spring arrived, I hung it in the tree in our backyard. We have a pair of cardinals in our tree, but not the birdhouse, they sit on the feeder and sometimes the little stopper for them to stand on in front of the house, but they never went inside. Just yesterday, I got really frustrated and went out to look at the house because I wanted to know why the beautiful red birds are so repulsed. Inside, i found a wasp nest, and a fat queen laying eggs inside. I have a terrible fear of flying stingers, and taking the birdhouse apart is not an option. How can I take them out, kill them, and keep them out for good without taking the birdhouse apart and repulsing birds?
I’m looking for serious answers.

Feeders for Wild Birds?

Posted by Filed Under Cardinal Bird House with 3 Comments

For the Winter, my family places feeders around the backyard. We get a variety of birds like blue jays and cardinals. We also realized that we are getting some morning doves, but the feeders we have are too small, a small house shaped feeder and three stocking feeders, is there a certain type of feeder that i need, is there anyway i could make a simple feeder for the "big birds". Any advice would be nice.
