Bird Watching is said to be one of the most relaxing and peaceful hobbies that anyone can do.
I keep black oiled sunflower seeds out year round and we’re in the south. That’s for the cardinals, they are the last birds to eat in the evenings so I throw theirs out late in the day plus they don’t eat from feeders they eat off the ground. The jays are little scavengers, they’ll eat any and everything, both enjoy fruit and the jays love peanuts, and yes they will eat other birds eggs…I hate that but love all birds, so I forgive them. Sunflower seeds are fairly cheap and it will keep everyone happy….great web page for birds…go to Cornell Universities web page….they are a font of knowledge on all birds.
The jays would love peanuts, peanut butter, and suet..the cardinals prefer sunflower seeds. Neither of these birds are cavity nesters so will not use a bird house.
Cardinals like thistle seed. Blue Jays scavenge and also enjoy cardinal eggs.
