Feeders for Wild Birds?
Posted On August 1 In Cardinal Bird House
For the Winter, my family places feeders around the backyard. We get a variety of birds like blue jays and cardinals. We also realized that we are getting some morning doves, but the feeders we have are too small, a small house shaped feeder and three stocking feeders, is there a certain type of feeder that i need, is there anyway i could make a simple feeder for the "big birds". Any advice would be nice.

Bird Watching is said to be one of the most relaxing and peaceful hobbies that anyone can do.
For larger birds including doves you need to use a platform feeder. Here is a hanging type

There is also one that has a post to stick in the ground and a platform on top of it.
You could just use a dish or low bowl for the ‘big birds’. You can also get poultry hoppers which you can use.
Zarago.
I feed doves on the ground only giving them what they eat in one day. They get a mix of chicken scratch feed and wild bird seed mix. I don’t like to leave the leftovers as it will attract rats and mice.
